Make Your Own Stamps

You get to see thousands of rubber stamps, scraps and some decorative cards, etc. in a craft store. They are very beautifully designed. If you want to buy these kinds of stamps from the store, can be a bit pricey, and sometimes if you want to purchase different kinds of stamps then it can cost you even more. You can save money by making your own stamps. It is not very hard to make your own stamps; actually, you can have fun while making stamps. A rubber stamp, which you buy from the shop, is made up of rubber, foam cushion and plastic. Firstly, you should take a rubber of such a size in which you can accommodate the design you want. If a big rubber is not possible then you can combine one or more pieces according to your design. While using more than one eraser you should make sure that, they have same thickness. After you get the eraser, next thing you have to do is to transfer your design to it. If you want to take, the picture from a magazine or from a book then you can use a carbon paper and create a reverse image or a tracing paper and then a carbon paper can be used to get the exact duplicate of the picture. Other way of getting a duplicate is to use a light box, but it can be a bit difficult if there is heavy printing on the other side of the original picture. If you do not want to follow any of this procedure then you can directly draw the picture on the eraser. Before drawing the picture you can darken the outlines with a pen or pencil so that it is clearly visible. Some of the cuts should make in the interior of the design, if the design is not solid. To make the cuts you might need needle, or a dental pick or even a jeweler screwdriver will work, because a blade can also be too big for these cuts. After that remove those areas that are not needed and are not part of the design. Most importantly, these cuts should be given well below the design. Once the rubber gets loose, the cross-hatching should be cut very properly so that it can make the stamp very smooth. Once all these cuts are given, the new stamp can be tested and adjustments can be made accordingly. If there are any rough edges then they can be smoothened by sandpaper or cushioned nail. While cutting or sharpening if you get some holes in that then they can be filled with the help of glue. Your stamp is ready.
